In 1902 Southern Pacific Railroad made regular stops in San Antonio. The advent of the car made the station obsolete and eventually it became neglected, and then closed. The depot, on the National Historic Register, has now reopened as a must-see nightspot. It contains enough variety to satisfy anyone and can serve as your one-stop-shop destination for San Antonio nightlife. The heart of the station is the Sunset Saloon, which serves as a Texas-style dance hall. Located near the River Walk and across from the Alamodome and the convention center, the complex includes a 30,000-foot courtyard with retail kiosks, karaoke bar, and the Lone Star Pavilion for live music. Aldaco's Mexican Restaurant, Willie's BBQ and Meat Market, and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse are located at the facility. Hear live music at Alley Cats, top 40 tunes at Zazoo, 70's dance venue at Bellbottoms. Four live music stages and five dance floors allow visitors discovery of the uniqueness of San Antonio nightlife. A steam engine sits on the nearby tracks for a photo opportunity.
