Built for the Lone Star Brewing Company in 1884, the Museum took up its current residence in 1981. Having one of the finest collections of Egyptian, Greek, Roman antiquities, Asian and Latin American art, European and American paintings, the museum expanded to include the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Art by the acquisition of the Rockefeller collection in 1998.
